As Oceans Warm

As Oceans Warm
Cot Valley, Cornwall, 2024
As oceans warms, a project giving emphasis to the urgency of the accelerating climate change. An urgency we are already experiencing and witnessing the world over. By 2100 warming oceans and rising sea levels will present a multitude of physical risks to the UK with increased extreme storms, not only affecting the infrastructure, but the health and wellbeing of the people whose homes will be lost to flooding and coastal erosion.
For this series and photobook I photographed Cot Valley, a small prehistoric cove near St Just in Cornwall, where a large section of the surrounding cliffs collapsed in the winter of 2023, caused by the rising tides due to global warming. Cot Valley is a place that has personal meaning to me, a place I return to regularly for solitude and quiet contemplation. The images in this series capture the elements of beauty in nature, reinforcing a connection to the natural world. Our world we need to protect.
