A Meander
River Cam, Cambridgeshire, 2023

I began this project through my love of walking, and the ability to find peace and solace within landscapes. Walking within nature allows you to leave things behind, it is a temporary break from the demands and expectations of modern life, to reconnect to ourselves, and to give our heightened senses a rest.

I wanted to record a meander, a walk without intention, and how the quiet calm of nature brings us back to the joy of simply being. These images were taken along a section of the meandering River Cam in Cambridgeshire, on an icy day with mist rising from the river, the whitest of wintery skies, and river wildlife gracefully moving through the stillness of the frozen landscape.
